How To Update Olympus PEN E-PL1 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera.

If any of you E-PL1 owner are like me, some of you might probably be somewhat disappointed with the slow autofocus speed. Although it is not really that of a critical downside, it is somewhat noticeable if you're used to use a full blown DSLR camera.

However, in actual fact, Olympus have addressed this shortcoming with an update which actually came out last April. If somehow you are still quite reluctant and perhaps somewhat scared to update it on your own, let me show you how. i have successfully updated my Olympus PEN E-PL1 camera yesterday, and i have to honestly say that i am pleased with the result.

Firstly, go to the Olympus website. Select the E-PL1 section. Here.
Then, under customer support, click the "download" section.
Next, click the firmware update.
Then, click the instructions on "how to". Read that through.
Proceed to download the Olympus Digital Camera Updater program. (just scroll down and click "Accepted")

Once, the downloading process is done. Make sure:

1. The battery is full.
2. Take out the memory card.
3. Plug in the USB cable and after you computer recognize the camera, select STORAGE from the camera menu. Like so.

4. Open the Olympus Digital Camera Updater program, just click "NEXT" and the updating process will begin. Do not unplug the camera while the updating process is still running(ddduuuhhh??!! are you that stoopid?).
5. The updating process is done(in about 10 minutes or so) when the camera's LCD is displaying "OK". Unplug. Turn camera off. Then turn it back on again and use it as usual to feel the newly improved and fast autofocus.

Happy shooting people!
(Do not shoot people with a gun guys, just the camera. Hahaha..)
