Just got my new laptop, a Benq Joybook R42. i was quite excited and happy when i heard my staff loan for my laptop was approved, i've been waiting for it a month since i've applied for it. My loan was released last Thursday, and i got my cheque the next day, which was Friday.
Actually for my quotation was for Joybook T31, but that version was not available so i opted for R42 instead. Anyway what made me to change for R42 was its awesome specs:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5500@1.67GHz.
Memory: 1GB DDR2-667mghz
Hard Drive: 100GB
Optical: DVD-RW Super-Multi(Double Layer)
OS: Windows Vista Home Basic
Others: Wifi 802.11 a/b/g + Bluetooth v2.0 EDR (my favourite feature, as this will be easier for me to synchronize it with my PDA & mobile phone)
After a day of testing, i found out that my laptop lasted about 3 hours on one single charge with me online using wifi and bluetooth turned on. R42 also has a great display at 14.1" UltraVivid wide screen. Viewing DVDs with it is a great experienced, clear pictures and great colour reproduction.
i am a gamer at heart, i was a little scared that i couldn't play my favourite games with Vista. i'm dissappointed when i couldn't install Heroes 5 on it. The installation just hang half way, and i couldn't reinstall it even after i rebooted. Strangely to my surprise though, Heroes 3 works well with Vista..
For now i've only installed 2 games, Rise of Nation and Heroes 3, i am not going to give up with my Heroes 5, i'm going to find out how i can work it with Vista.
